President Address

I have the following directions to drive our members to provide quality service to the construction industry, in particular, Mr. Donald Tsang, The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, committed in his Policy Address that he fully supports the Ten Major Infrastructure Projects to be carried out.

  • Further consolidate ourselves in terms of knowledge and experience from the platform that we have already built. To receive the new challenges from the Ten Major Infrastructure projects, I strongly encourage members to apply latest technologies and theories to meet the requirements;

  • Further improve effective communications among local institutes. Better effective communications could help the Ten Major Infrastructure projects to be run smoothly. I encourage members to share their experience with local institutes actively. Through the sharing, I wish that constructive experience can be spread among professionals in different views;

  • Further cooperate with overseas institutes to build up a network with them. I encourage members to exchange experience in different trades of practice in different cultures within the construction industry all over the world. Through the cooperation, I wish that our members could wider their views and could implement any positive ideas into their works; and

  • Further promote the Institute to the public. I will arrange regular promotions to allow the public to know the role of Clerks of Works. Through promotion, I wish that we could have further recognition from the public. Furthermore, we will try to negotiate with other institutes to try to seek recognition to further confirm our competency. Lastly, we wish to tell the public that competent Clerks of Works are just round the corner and are available to solve technical problems!

Finally, if you have any good ideas to the Institute, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to your active participation and contributions to the Institute.

Jacky Wan
President
